How to Harvest Crabs

The best way to crab is on an incoming tide.  If you are using a Captain Crabb Bait Basket, place your fish scraps (fresh, not cooked) inside, making sure it is secured inside the trap to stop seals from removing it.  If you are using a Bait Jar, make sure it is tied into the the trap loosely so the jar can work with the current, releasing the scent of the concentrated Captain Crabb bait.

A great harvest!!

Cooking Crab

You can cook whole crab by bringing fresh water to a boil, add course salt to taste, or add Ginger.  Boil for 20 minutes.

We recommend killing the crab first, by cutting with hatchet or meat cleaver, lay crab on it's back, cut in half then clean and rinse under fresh water (tastes a lot better this way)

Bring water to a boil, add salt or ginger to taste, boil for 10 minutes at a rapid boil, then rinse in cold water.

Please only harvest and keep "legal size" crabs.  By doing so, you are keeping our stock for future generations.  Check your local regulations on dimensions for "legal sized" crabs in your area.

Thank you for your co-operation.
